The 100 Day Project
The 100 Day Project is a free, global art project that takes place online. The idea is to commit to 100 days of creating.
This year I have decided to focus on creating black, white and grey monochromatic artworks.
I do LOVE colour. However, I want to cast aside the colour spectrum and challenge myself as an artist to focus on what can be achieved without my usual preferences. My goal as an artist is to push myself in new ways yet still remain true to my unique voice.
Using a variety of materials I hope to explore different ways of mark making.
I want to be able to create layered compostions which evoke a mood, a time and/or place.
I will continue to use my intuitive, exploratory approach. This will largely be playful which will in no doubt lead to some frustration and “ugly”art. On the otherhand this is where some cool discoveries and original art can be made. I will allow myself to make mistakes and have fun with the process. You can follow along over at my instagram or on Youtube
Days one to ten were about mixing it up, adding layers and filling up the five inch squares. I enjoyed giving each one of the artworks a name and attached music that I thought fitted the mood. You will see a combination of abstraction and mysterious landscapes. Some of my favourites are shown below. Which one do you like?
Days eleven to twenty are about quick layers and leaving some clear background on the paper. It’s rare I leave space on my paintings so this is proving to be a challenge. Today is Day 17 so it’s a work in progress. I’ll share them in my next blogpost.
I’m going to make an attempt to begin blogging again regularly. In the world of Instagram and Facebook it’s difficult to be seen. Here it feels more personal so if you like my art and processes feel free to follow along and leave a comment below. Thanks for reading my well overdue blogpost!
I need to get back to my art table.
